Building a Search-First Website for a Connecticut Security Company
DetectionTech had more than 20 years of trusted work protecting Connecticut homes and businesses, but online it was hard to find and easy to overlook. The goal was a complete website redesign and SEO overhaul that would help a licensed local installer compete against national security brands across all eight counties, plus a marketing system to keep the pipeline full.
About the Client
DetectionTech is a licensed Connecticut security and fire protection company led by Jon Wlodkowski, with over 20 years of hands-on experience. They design and install custom security, video surveillance, access control, and fire alarm systems for homes, businesses, restaurants, multifamily properties, and schools statewide. As authorized dealers of Brivo, Eagle Eye Networks, ButterflyMX, and Alarm.com, they bring enterprise-grade technology to properties of every size, backed by responsive local support.
The Challenge
Security is a competitive, trust-driven market, and DetectionTech was up against national companies with big ad budgets and call centers. Their real advantage, a licensed local team with two decades of field experience, was not coming through online. The site needed to communicate that trust, capture the many different ways people search for security services (by service, by county, by industry), and turn visitors into consultations.

THE TRANSFORMATION
A local expert that finally shows up like one.
The work was structured around how people actually search for security. Rather than rebuilding from scratch, we cleaned up the existing site and expanded it, adding dedicated pages for each service, each Connecticut county, and each industry served.
Now a property manager in Fairfield County and a restaurant owner in Middlesex County both land somewhere built for them. Underneath it all sits the technical SEO foundation to be found in the first place.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Two distinct buyers, one trusted brand
The Business
Decision-Maker
Property managers, facility owners, and operators who need code-compliant systems, reliable monitoring, and one local partner they can call, not a national call center routing them through a queue.
The website needed to speak to both audiences without feeling generic to either.
The Connecticut Homeowner
Homeowners comparing their options who want a licensed, local installer they can trust to design the right system and stand behind it.
THE RESULT
A site engineered to be found and to convert
The optimized website now works as hard as the team behind it. County, service, and industry pages capture local search intent across Connecticut, a blog strategy builds authority and feeds social automatically, and clear calls to action turn traffic into consultations. Paired with ongoing social media and advertising, DetectionTech now has a marketing engine, not just a website, one that reflects the licensed, local expertise that sets them apart.
BEYOND THE WEBSITE
An interactive brochure built for the sales conversation
DetectionTech doesn't sell one product. They design integrated systems that pull together access control, video intercom, and cloud surveillance from different manufacturers, then tie it all together as the licensed installer. That is a lot to explain in a single sales meeting.
So the partnership grew beyond the website into sales collateral. I designed an interactive technology brochure that walks a prospect through each platform DetectionTech is authorized to install, Brivo for access control, ButterflyMX for intercom and property access, and Eagle Eye Networks for cloud video, then shows how the three operate as one system.
-
Tappable section navigation, so a salesperson can jump straight to what a prospect cares about
Benefit-led "what this means for you" framing on every platform, not a spec sheet
Live links out to each manufacturer
A dedicated integration story reflecting the December 2025 Brivo and Eagle Eye merger into the Brivo Security Suite
A closing credentials page that positions DetectionTech as the authorized, licensed, single point of contact
The result is a guided, branded experience a prospect can absorb in a meeting or explore on their own. It makes a complex, multi-vendor pitch feel simple, and it positions DetectionTech as the expert who ties it all together.
